Life these days seems to be extremely stressful due to the pressures of society, the media, and our economy; not to mention our personal relationships and our own lives. We live in incredible times of upheaval and change and I believe we are being called to step up and embrace this change by raising our consciousness. As Einstein said, “No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” As I pondered this statement and thought about the current state of affairs and the struggles so many are faced with on this planet, I asked myself, “What can I do?” For me a question arises in my mind and I then meditate on it.
As I sat in my comfortable living room, with soft music playing, my dog Coco sitting next to me, a slight tension arose as a thought of how blessed I am and how there are so many individuals around the world suffering from thirst, hunger, loneliness, suppression... I pulled my attention back to the present moment, the “Now,” and I remembered Gandhi’s words, “Be the change you seek in the world.” I realized with deeper conviction, that I could not change the world, before I changed myself.
The physical world is an outer expression of humanity’s inner turmoil of their minds. Each of us wage war in the comfort of our home, in the confines of our mind with our unconscious thoughts, judgements, opinions, and negative self-talk. My wise inner voice whispered, “Be present, be here now.” Again the question, “What can I do?” An answer came, “What are you willing to do?” As I stilled the busy grasping little mind, I moved into the mind of my heart, I call this my Awakened Heart, and I listened. It said:
Be kind and gentle with yourself and everyone you touch.
Be fully present and listen to those you are with.
Be generous with your love, your smiles, and your aliveness.
Be willing to grow out of your comfort zone.
Be willing to sit with the discomfort of others, knowing that you may have something that will ease their pain and suffering.
Remember you are here to positively effect the lives of others, it is in the giving that you receive your soul’s longings.
Remember, we are all one big human family. We all feel pain and hurt, long to love and be loved , want to feel appreciated, meet our daily needs, take care of our families, feel safe in our homes, and have the freedom to express ourselves.
Cultivate a field of unconditional love that encompasses and includes the entire planet and everyone and everything on it, and beyond.
Honor each others differences, celebrate our uniqueness, and embrace our Oneness.
Once we know better, we do better!
As answers to my questions present themselves in my Awakened Heart, I found myself feeling better, more peaceful and hopeful. If I am sitting in my living room feeling my consciousness expanding, then maybe sharing it with you will bring a smile to your face and heart too!
Love yourself!
Peace and blessings,
Namaste’
